Validation of the Signaling Procedures of a Delivery Platform for IMS Services

Defined by the 3 Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is becoming the de facto overlay architecture for enabling service delivery in converged environments. In order to explore and to further develop the service delivery mechanisms defined by the IMS, there is the need to enable a reliable testing environment that allows to experiment with these new approaches, in order to correctly evaluate their impact in the standards already defined. With this goal in mind, this paper presents an evaluation of conformance of the session control mechanisms of an IMS testbed based on the UCT IMS Client developed at the University of Cape Town and the Open IMS Core implementation of the Fraunhofer FOKUS Institute at Berlin.
